Gas Services FAQs

What gas services do you offer?

We provide professional gas services, including gas boiler installation and servicing, gas fire installation, gas cooker connection, gas safety checks, and repairs. All work is carried out by fully qualified Gas Safe registered engineers.

Are you a Gas Safe registered gas engineer?

Yes. Our engineers are Gas Safe registered, which means we are legally certified to carry out gas work safely and in compliance with UK regulations.

How often should gas appliances be serviced?

Gas appliances should be serviced once a year. Annual servicing improves safety, efficiency, and helps prevent breakdowns or carbon monoxide risks.

Do you provide Gas Safety Certificates (CP12)?

Yes. We provide Gas Safety Certificates for landlords after completing the required annual gas safety inspection of appliances and pipework.

Gas Boiler FAQs

How often should a gas boiler be serviced?

A gas boiler should be serviced annually by a Gas Safe registered engineer to ensure safe operation, maintain efficiency, and keep the manufacturer’s warranty valid.

What are common signs my boiler needs repair?

Warning signs include no heating or hot water, strange noises, pressure loss, leaks, error codes, or rising energy bills.

Do you install new gas boilers?

Yes. We install modern, energy-efficient gas boilers and can advise on the best boiler for your home, usage, and budget.

Can a new boiler reduce energy bills?

Yes. New boilers are far more efficient than older models and can significantly reduce gas usage and heating costs.

Gas Fire FAQs

Do you install gas fires?

Yes. We install inset, wall-mounted, freestanding, and balanced flue gas fires, ensuring full compliance with safety regulations.

Are gas fires safe?

Gas fires are safe when correctly installed and serviced annually. Proper ventilation and flue operation are essential for safe use.

Can you service or repair gas fires?

Yes. We service and repair most types of gas fires to ensure safe combustion and efficient performance.

Do gas fires need a chimney?

Not always. Some gas fires use chimneys, while others use flues or are flueless, depending on the model and property layout.

Gas Cooker FAQs

Do you install and connect gas cookers?

Yes. We professionally install and connect gas cookers, carrying out full gas tightness and safety checks.

Is it legal to install a gas cooker myself?

No. Gas cookers must be installed by a Gas Safe registered engineer to comply with UK gas safety laws.

Do you disconnect old gas cookers?

Yes. We safely disconnect and remove old gas cookers before installing a new appliance.

Chimney & Flue FAQs

What is the difference between a chimney and a flue?

A chimney is the structure that allows fumes to exit the building, while a flue is the internal passage that safely carries combustion gases from the appliance to the outside.

Do all gas appliances need a flue?

Most gas appliances require a flue to safely remove combustion gases. However, some modern appliances are flueless and use advanced safety systems and ventilation requirements.

What is a balanced flue?

A balanced flue draws air from outside and expels waste gases through a sealed system, making it very efficient and safe. It does not require a traditional chimney.

Can you check if my chimney or flue is safe?

Yes. During servicing or a gas safety check, we inspect the chimney or flue to ensure it is correctly installed, unobstructed, and safe to use.

What happens if a flue is blocked or damaged?

A blocked or damaged flue is extremely dangerous and can cause carbon monoxide to enter the property. If identified, the appliance must not be used until the issue is resolved.

Do you install flues for gas appliances?

Yes. We install and replace flues in accordance with current gas safety regulations and manufacturer guidelines.

Gas Safety FAQs

What should I do if I smell gas?

Turn off the gas supply, open windows and doors, avoid using electrical switches, and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 immediately.

Do I need a carbon monoxide detector?

Yes. Carbon monoxide detectors are strongly recommended and often legally required. They provide early warning of dangerous carbon monoxide leaks.

Who is responsible for gas safety in rental properties?

Landlords are legally responsible for gas safety and must arrange annual gas safety checks and provide tenants with a valid Gas Safety Certificate.

Carbon Monoxide (CO) FAQs

What is carbon monoxide?

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colourless, odourless gas produced when fuel does not burn properly. It is extremely dangerous and can be fatal.

What causes carbon monoxide leaks?

Faulty gas or LPG appliances, poor servicing, blocked flues or chimneys, and inadequate ventilation.

Why is carbon monoxide dangerous?

It stops oxygen from reaching vital organs and can cause serious illness or death without warning.

What are the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning?

Headaches, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, confusion, and shortness of breath.

Carbon Monoxide Detectors FAQs

Do I need a carbon monoxide detector?

Yes. CO detectors are strongly recommended and often legally required in homes with gas, LPG, or solid fuel appliances.

Where should CO detectors be installed?

In rooms with fuel-burning appliances and near sleeping areas, following UK safety guidance.

How many CO detectors do I need?

At least one per property level with fuel-burning appliances. Larger homes may need more.

CO & Gas Safety FAQs

Can gas appliances produce carbon monoxide?

Yes. Boilers, fires, cookers, and LPG appliances can produce CO if faulty or poorly maintained.

Can a blocked flue or chimney cause CO?

Yes. Blocked or damaged flues and chimneys are a common and serious cause of CO buildup.

Do you check for CO during servicing?

Yes. Gas servicing and safety checks include combustion and flue inspections.

Landlords & CO FAQs

Are CO detectors legally required for landlords?

Yes. Landlords must install carbon monoxide alarms in properties with fuel-burning appliances.

Who is responsible for CO alarms?

Landlords must ensure alarms are installed and working at the start of a tenancy.

If a CO Alarm Sounds FAQs

What should I do?

Turn off appliances if safe, open windows, leave the property, and contact a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Should I ignore the alarm if I feel fine?

No. Never ignore a carbon monoxide alarm.
